By Mads Lennon
Ginny & Georgia season 2 is right around the corner, so before the new season arrives, make sure you remember everything that went down in season 1!
Spoilers ahead for Ginny & Georgia season 1
Ginny & Georgia arrived on the scene in 2021, and the ten-episode first season instantly became a hit with teen drama fans. The show quickly earned a loyal fanbase thanks to its soapy storylines and lovable characters. After almost two years of waiting, fans are about to be rewarded with another season of the hit comedy-drama!
Considering how long it has been since the first season aired, we thought it would be helpful to create a guide highlighting some of the most significant events to occur at the end of the debut season and refresh your memory before diving into Ginny & Georgia season 2.
Ginny & Georgia season 1 recap
Hunter and Ginny broke up
Because Marcus and Ginny can’t resist each other, it soon becomes apparent that it’s over for Ginny and her boyfriend, Hunter. All of this comes to a head during a fight at school, with Hunter even throwing a punch at Marcus.
MANG is split
At the end of Ginny & Georgia season 1, things turn ugly between our beloved “MANG,” with Max, Abby, Norah, and Ginny all getting into a big fight. Max is furious with Ginny for sneaking around with Marcus and not telling her, and she’s also mad at Abby because Abby knew about Marcus and Ginny and didn’t tell her. By the season 1 finale, MANG looks like they’re done for good, with only Norah avoiding Max’s wrath.
Paul wins the re-election, gets engaged to Georgia
After a tight race against Cynthia, Paul manages to defeat his opponent to win the re-election for mayor. He and Georgia are also engaged, and even though Cynthia knows Georgia embezzled money, she’s unable to prove it.
The private detective is closing in
Georgia’s ex-husband’s first wife hires a private detective to investigate Georgia, and Gabriel Cordova closes in on Georgia by the end of season 1. But Georgia manages to stay one step ahead of him by cremating Kenny’s ashes and shooting them off in the celebratory fireworks, leaving Cordova unable to prove that Kenny was poisoned.
However, Cordova later gets wind of Georgia’s actual first husband, Anthony Greene, and realizes she might have had something to do with what happened to him, too, so it seems the detective’s work isn’t quite done yet.
Austin knows Georgia didn’t send his letters
Austin finds all of his letters stashed beneath a floorboard in Georgia’s bedroom and realizes that his mom hasn’t been sending his letters to his dad, who she told him was a wizard in Azkaban. Austin takes it upon himself to send all the letters, including their return address. Since Gil was in jail, that’s not a good sign. Aaron Ashmore will play Gil in season 2, so we can assume he’s coming to cause trouble.
Ginny and Austin run away from home
After talking to the private detective and snooping in Georgia’s hiding spot, Ginny realizes that her mom is a murderer and killed Kenny. She’s so disturbed by the news that she steals Marcus’ motorcycle, grabs Austin, and runs away from home! That’s where we left off at the end of Ginny & Georgia season 1.
Ginny & Georgia season 2 premieres on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2023.
