Netflix is adding 20 new movies and shows (Dec. 25, 2022)

Christmas is here! And while lots of people will be interested in the new things they are getting for Xmas and the family that’s visiting, when you have a moment of downtime, Netflix has you covered with a bunch of new movies and shows. The new things coming this week include a fantasy spinoff series, a musical, and a spy show.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is streaming on Netflix starting on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2022. The spinoff of the very popular Witcher series takes place more than 1000 years before the events in The Witcher and follows seven outcasts in the Elven world who must join forces to fight against a powerful empire.

The series stars Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry, Nathaniel Curtis, and Dylan Morgan.

More in the mood for a musical? Matilda the Musical is also coming on Sunday, Dec. 25. The musical is based on the book by Roald Dahl and tells the story of Matilda, who is incredibly smart, sharp-witted, and has extraordinary talents that help her fight all the struggles she faces day to day.

The movie stars Alisha Weir, Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch, Stephen Graham, Andrea Riseborough, and Sindhu Vee.

Treason starring Charlie Cox is also headed to Netflix this week. It hits the streaming service on Monday, Dec. 26. It tells the story of Adam Lawrence, an MI6 spy. His career seems to be going well until a former Russian spy from his past reappears and he must question everything and everyone he thought he knew.

Besides Cox, the series stars Ciarán Hinds, Oona Chaplin, Rishi Nair, Olga Kurylenko, Beau Gadsdon, Samuel Leakey, and Alex Kingston.
