Even though so many of our favorite shows feature holiday episodes from time to time, it’s a rarity for an entire show to take place during the holiday season. In 2020, Netflix gifted us with a charming romantic comedy series called Dash & Lily, which had the backdrop of Christmastime in New York City.

Based on the book Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn, Austin Abrams and Midori Francis star as the title characters, two teenagers who strike up a relationship by writing messages to each other in a notebook. Dash and Lily don’t meet right away, opting to remain pen pals becoming acquainted via personal writings and daring adventures in the same city.

Even though fans enjoyed the series, Netflix canceled Dash & Lily after one season, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still revel in the romance of the underrated, short-lived new holiday staple. With only eight half-hour episodes, it’s a perfectly breezy and charming watch to add to your Christmas lineup.
