Is Shadow and Bone season 2 coming in January 2023? (Rumor explained)

Now that we’re in the final month of the year, Netflix fans are looking ahead to 2023 and counting down the days until some of their favorite shows return with new seasons. You season 4 will be released in the first half of the new year, and we cannot wait to see The Witcher season 3 when that premieres in the summertime.

There are also plenty of titles that are confirmed for 2023 but we don’t have any idea as to what month or time of the year. One of those would be Shadow and Bone season 2, which we found out during TUDUM is definitely coming sometime in 2023. But when exactly? That was only up for speculation until recently, when eagle-eyed fans discovered an Instagram post that might reveal the release month. And if it’s true, then Shadow and Bone season 2 is coming out very soon.

Huw Gwyther, the founder of multiple magazines including Wonderland, recently took to Instagram to share Wonderland‘s 2022/2023 winter issue. Shadow and Bone star Archie Renaux graces the cover, rocking an all-black Givenchy look. The actor looks great, but many were distracted by a small detail in the caption. Gwyther says that Renaux is the “star of the brilliant @shadowandbone,” before adding that it “returns to @netflix in January.” January? As in next month?! Naturally, many flocked to the comments section to ask about that apparent huge reveal.

Is the Shadow and Bone season 2 release date January 2023?

At the time of this writing, Netflix has not announced the release date for Shadow and Bone season 2, so although this post seems to reveal the month, we just aren’t certain yet. Though fans would love the new season to come out as soon as possible, it would be strange considering Netflix hasn’t done much promotion for it yet. Would they really just release the new season without teasers, posters, and more way ahead of time?

Take You season 4 for example. That’s coming out in two parts, with the first part releasing in February 2023 and the second in March 2023. We got those release dates at TUDUM back in September, and we’ve gotten posters and more promo since then. It would be unusual for Netflix to drop Shadow and Bone season 2 that last-minute, but hey, who knows? We’re not saying it’s impossible. It is one of their biggest originals, though, so I’d be pretty shocked if it comes in January.
