One of Netflix’s most highly-anticipated new shows of the year is finally coming out this week! Wednesday, following the titular character of the famous Addams Family, heads to the streamer on Wednesday, November 23, and viewers are really in for a treat with this one. The mysterious and spooky series lives up to previous Addams Family titles before it and gives the story a new twist as it follows Wednesday at her new boarding school away from her parents.

If you start binging through the eight episodes this week and start to wonder if the locations you’re seeing on your screen are real, we don’t blame you! While Wednesday lives with her family in New Jersey in the new series, she travels to Vermont for her new school. The neighboring town, Jericho, is a real-life place, so what about Nevermore Academy?

Is Nevermore Academy a real place?

Though the kooky school for outcasts and creatures looks awesome, it’s unfortunately not a real academy. The fictional school was made up by the creators of Wednesday, but that doesn’t make it any less fun! As you’ll get to see in the show, the students of Nevermore Academy are werewolves, gorgons, psychics, sirens, and other mythical beings. There’s never a dull moment at this school!

Where was Wednesday filmed?

The new series was shot primarily in Bucharest, Romania, according to The Midgard Times, where they filmed from September 2021 to March 2022.

Don’t miss Netflix’s best new series when Wednesday debuts on November 23 at 12:00 a.m. PT / 3:00 a.m. ET.
