How many episodes is 1899 on Netflix?

Netflix’s got a gripping mystery thriller on the way and it’s one you won’t want to miss out on. 1899 comes from the creators of Dark, Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, telling the story of European passengers traveling by ship to America. We get to meet an ensemble cast on the steamship Kerberos while the mystery of another ship’s disappearance hangs in the air. What happened to the Prometheus, and does it have to do with any of the passengers on the Kerberos? That’s what we’re going to find out in this new series.

It was announced in 2018 that the showrunners were working on another project for Netflix, and as more and more details started to come out about 1899, the show caught attention for the technology used they used to film. The series was filmed primarily in Germany using the Volume, the revolutionary virtual studio that Disney’s been using for Star Wars and other franchises.

There’s some sophisticated filming that’s gone into 1899, and we cannot wait to check it out.

If you’re getting ready to binge 1899 this week after it comes to Netflix on Thursday. Nov. 17, you might be wondering just how many episodes you’ll have to get through. It’s been confirmed that the season will consist of eight one-hour episodes.

At this time, 1899 is not being billed as a limited or miniseries, so it’s entirely possible we could get a second season. Dark ran for three seasons which was the perfect amount of time to tell the story. Depending on how the eighth episode of 1899 ends, viewers might be begging for a second installment.
