Falling for Christmas 2: Will there be a sequel to the Lindsay Lohan movie?

It’s officially Christmastime on Netflix, and Lindsay Lohan is the one to mark the occasion! The talented actress and singer stars in the holiday romantic comedy Falling for Christmas, which is the first of multiple movies on the way to the streamer starring Lohan.

The Mean Girls star makes her high-profile return to acting as Sierra Belmont, a spoiled heiress who suffers an extreme bout of amnesia in the aftermath of a skiing accident. As a result, Sierra finds herself in the care of Jake (Chord Overstreet), a handsome lodge owner.

Staying true to holiday rom-coms that have come before, Falling for Christmas brings the two unlikely strangers together for a new romance, and a character will learn about what’s really important in life. These are the makings of a cozy Christmas movie!

But will there be a sequel to Falling for Christmas on Netflix? Here’s what we know so far about the likelihood of Lindsay Lohan and Chord Overstreet returning for a follow-up to the sure-to-be hit holiday movie.

Will there be a Falling for Christmas 2?

As of the film’s release in November 2022, there are no immediate plans for Netflix to turn Falling for Christmas into a franchise. While the streamer has produced trilogies for its holiday romantic comedies A Christmas Prince and The Princess Switch, this one seems like a one-off.

Netflix isn’t a stranger to greenlighting sequels, considering Extraction 2, The Old Guard 2, Murder Mystery 2, and more are on the way, on top of the many other sequels that have already premiered. Also, Netflix produced a sequel for its hit family movie The Christmas Chronicles.

But last year’s holiday romantic comedies Love Hard, Single All the Way, and A Castle for Christmas, which were each successful in their own way, weren’t given sequels. Usually, holiday rom-coms wrap up the story by the end of the film. Of course, we’d love to see Lohan and Overstreet reprise their characters, but it might be necessary given the ending.

Even if Falling for Christmas 2 doesn’t happen, this won’t be the last you’ll see of Lindsay Lohan on Netflix. The actress signed a multi-film deal with the streamer, and she’s already hard at work on her next movie, Irish Wish.
