Is Jack Messina in Manifest season 4 part 1?

Across the first three seasons of Manifest, the role of Cal Stone was played to perfection by actor Jack Messina before the role was recast in the season 3 finale as the result of a significant plot twist in the character’s storyline.

In the season 3 finale, Cal returned after disappearing when he touched the 828 tailfin but this wasn’t the Cal we knew and loved. Instead, Cal had mysteriously aged the five-and-a-half years he missed while on the plane with actor Ty Duran making his debut in the role.

Following the twist, the role of Cal is set to continue to be played by Duran in the fourth season of Manifest. However, that doesn’t mean fans still aren’t hopeful that Messina will make an appearance in the show’s fourth season.

Does Jack Messina appear in Manifest season 4 part 1?

If you’re hoping to see more of Jack Messina in the role of Cal Stone, you’re in luck as Messina indeed returns for Manifest season 4 part 1 — just in a much smaller role than we previously saw him appear in across the show’s first three seasons.

Warning: Manifest season 4 part 1 spoilers ahead. 

After appearing as a series regular across the first three seasons of Manifest, Messina exited the series but he does return in season 3 via a guest spot in the third episode of season 4, “High Flight.”

In the episode, we get to see Messina return via a flashback sequence that helps explain where Cal was when he disappeared before he returned five-and-a-half years older. It’s a pivotal scene in the episode and in Cal’s storyline in the season and served as the sole appearance of Messina across the season — at least in newly filmed scenes that is.

While Messina is only credited for one episode in part 1, we do get glimpses of young Cal in a few other episodes across the season. However, those appearances come via flashbacks that utilize old footage from previous seasons of the show.
