Netflix is adding 20 new movies and shows this week (Oct 16, 2022)

Somehow, it’s already mid-October! That means colder weather and being ever closer to Halloween but it also means that Netflix is adding a bunch of new movies and shows. This week, you can check out a new Netflix fantasy series, a new season of a true crime show, and a new crime drama.

Netflix’s The School for Good and Evil starts streaming on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022, Starring Charlize Theron, Kerry Washington, Laurence Fishbourne, Kit Young, Patti Lupone, and Michelle Yeoh, the series follows best friends Sophie and Agatha who find themselves on opposite sides of a war. It all begins when they start going to a magical school where they are meant to learn how to balance good and evil.

Unsolved Mysteries is also back with volume 3. The first three episodes will be out on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and then another three episodes will be released every week after that. The first three episodes are titled “Mystery at Mile Marker 45,” “Something in the Sky,” and “Body in Bags.” These will be perfect with Halloween just around the corner.

Netflix is also adding The Stranger on Wednesday, Oct. 19. The movie stars Joel Edgerton and Sean Harris and was directed and written by Thomas M. Wright. The film tells the story of two men who meet on a plane and start up a friendship. This new relationship brings out the good in both of their lives. Or so they think.

They are both hiding something from each other. And in the background, the police are running a huge operation and they’re getting closer to a suspect. Could it be one of the friends?

This week also brings Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am on Sunday, Oct. 13, Waffles + Mochi’s Restaurant on Monday, Oct. 17, and season 3 of Love is Blind on Wednesday, Oct. 19.
