Is The Midnight Club based on a book?

Mike Flanagan returns to Netflix with his new project titled The Midnight Club, but this time around, he teamed up with another person, Leah Fong. The mystery-horror series premieres on Friday, Oct. 7, and everyone’s preparing for its release.

The Midnight Club is a Netflix original about a group of terminally ill patients who live at a hospice run by a mysterious doctor. Every night the patients meet at midnight to tell sinister stories to each other. One night, they decide to make a pact that the first person to die will have the responsibility to contact the others from beyond the the grave to confirm that there’s life after death. But then one dies, and weird occurrences begin.

The talented ensemble cast includes Iman Benson, Adia, Igby Rigney, Ruth Codd, Aya Furukawa, Annarah Shephard, William Chris Sumpter, Sauriyan Sapkota, Heather Langenkamp, and many others.

Is The Midnight Club based on a book?

Like many Netflix shows, the mystery-thriller series is based on a novel. It’s a television adaptation of the 1994 book of the same name by bestselling author Christopher Pike. The show also draws from a bunch of Pike’s earlier work too. You can purchase the book through Amazon as a paperback or as an eBook.

This isn’t Pike’s first piece of work to be adapted. His 1990 mystery book Fall into Darkness was adapted into a television movie of the same name in 1996. Also, his children’s books series Spooksville was adapted into a TV show in 2013 on the Hub Network (Discovery Family).

His latest work to be adapted is The Midnight Club. The next book of Pike’s we’ll see adapted is The Season of Passage. Flanagan is set to direct a film adaptation of the science fiction novel for Universal.
