Can you believe it’s been almost five years since The Lord of the Rings series was announced? The pandemic didn’t help, but this is a series that has needed along development time, and the first episodes are not disappointing.

Yes, the first two episodes are already out. The remaining episodes will be released weekly. Now the big question is where can you stream it? Is this a series that is on Netflix? Will The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power ever come to Netflix?

The Lord of the Rings series is not coming to Netflix

We have a lot of bad news for Netflix subscribers. This is not a series that is available to watch with your subscription. You will need to head over to another streaming platform.

The new series is an Amazon Original Series. All episodes will be on Prime Video, with the first two episodes already streaming there. Episodes are coming out at midnight ET/9 p.m. PT on Fridays/Thursdays each week until the finale airs.

There is no way Netflix is going to end up with the show unless something major happens. We’re talking about Amazon completely shutting down and having to merge with Netflix. Do we honestly think that will happen any time soon? Never say “never,” but it’s highly unlikely that we’ll end up seeing the two companies merge considering both of their successes.

It’s also not likely to come to Digital. It doesn’t make sense for Amazon to release its original content on Digital, so you can’t buy it as a one-off. Chances are you have Amazon Prime for shopping, so you’ll have Prime Video, right?

There is always a chance the movies will come to Netflix again.
