Day Shift ending explained: What happens at the end of the movie?

Jamie Foxx’s vampire action film Day Shift is finally out now on Netflix. This hilarious and entertaining new movie feels like the perfect summer flick, complete with tons of gore and vampire violence.

What happens at the end of Day Shift?

At the end of Day Shift, Bud goes after Audrey after she kidnaps his ex-wife and their daughter. He teams up with Seth and Heather to take her down for good and Big John also ends up joining for the showdown.

Ultimately, Bud manages to defeat Audrey by using his handy silver wire and decapitating her. He saves his family and Jocelyn decides not to move to Florida after all. She also knows Bud’s a vampire hunter now and the pair seem to be moving toward reconciliation.

Day Shift ending: Does Big John really die?

Big John appears to sacrifice himself by setting off a bomb vest and killing a bunch of vampires trying to attack him and Bud. But he actually somehow survives. In the final seconds of the film, we see him climb out of a manhole just as Bud and his family drive past. Since Big John is played by Snoop Dogg he lights a joint, as expected, and walks off happily. So no, he’s not dead!

Day Shift ending: Does Seth really die?

Poor Seth gets turned into a vampire by Audrey and then he tries to attack Bud who is forced to decapitate him. But Seth doesn’t actually die. He actually sticks his head back on his shoulders and slowly heals himself, with some assistance from Bud’s other vampire friend Heather and her spare blood bags.

Seth is very much alive (well as alive as a vampire can be) by the end of the movie. Bud labels Seth and Heather as the “good vampires.” And now Seth appears to be part of Bud’s vampire-hunting team rather than your average union member anymore.

Does Day Shift have a post-credits scene?

No, unfortunately Day Shift does not have a post-credits scene. The closest we come to that is the small ending moment where Big John crawls out of the sewer, revealed to be alive.
