Netflix’s latest fantasy show is bound to get viewers binging all weekend. The Sandman, the highly-anticipated adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s popular comic book series of the same name, has finally arrived on the streamer and we’re sure old and new fans alike will love it. The show follows the character Morpheus (Tom Sturridge), the ruler of the dream world. After being captured and caged for over 100 years, he’s ready to take back his realm. But not everything is the same way he left it.

Spoilers ahead for The Sandman on Netflix.

Each episode of The Sandman is unique and evokes different feelings, with one episode in particular, Chapter 5, a.k.a. “24/7,” being a super creepy one. Overall, the show has a pretty dark vibe and there’s a lot of violence. Though Morpheus is very powerful, there are plenty of villains who get in his way and want to hurt the waking world. Not everyone gets along, to put it simply.

Below, we list all the deaths in the Netflix adaptation.

The Sandman on Netflix deaths

In order of their deaths, here are the characters who meet their demise in The Sandman season 1 on Netflix:

  • Jessamy
  • Roderick Burgess
  • Abel (but comes back to life)
  • Gregory
  • Ethel Cripps
  • Multiple guards
  • Rachel
  • Gas station cashier
  • Gary
  • Kate
  • Judy
  • Mark
  • Bette
  • Marsh
  • Miss Rubio
  • Aunt Clarice
  • Uncle Barnaby
  • Philip Sitz
  • Fun Land
  • Corinthian
  • Nimrod
  • Unity

This show is certainly dark, and the long death count proves it! Though there are some scenes which are light in nature, the majority are very dramatic. It makes sense why the Netflix adaptation has a TV-MA rating. We wouldn’t recommend watching with children around!

The most upsetting death in The Sandman on Netflix for me would probably be Unity’s. She sacrifices her life for her great-granddaughter Rose, as it’s discovered that she was actually supposed to be the Dream Vortex. I am happy that Rose gets to live, however, because she has her whole life ahead of her and finally is reunited with her younger brother Jed.
