We’ve been counting down the days until The Sandman lands on Netflix, and we’re almost at the finish line. On Aug. 5, the complete first season will arrive on Netflix, and you’ll want to see this original series as soon as it’s released!
The Sandman is a fantasy series developed by Neil Gaiman, David S. Goyer, and Allan Heinberg for Netflix and a television adaptation of Gaiman’s comic book series of the same name. There had been several attempts at adapting The Sandman, but they all fell through until Netflix signed a deal with Warner Bros. TV for a series order in July 2019.
The story follows the Sandman, otherwise known as Morpheus or Dream of the Endless, a powerful godlike being who controls all dreams. After Dream is free from over a century of imprisonment, he sets off on a journey to regain what was stolen from him and restore order to his kingdom, which is in shambles.
The incredible cast consists of Tom Sturridge, Gwendoline Christie, Vivienne Acheampong, Boyd Holbrook, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, and many others. So can you watch the fantasy series with your kids, or should you save it for another time? Below, we let you know whether The Sandman is kid-friendly or not.
The Sandman parents guide and age rating
The fantasy series is rated TV-MA, meaning it may not be appropriate for ages 17 and under. It was given this age rating for strong language, graphic violence, sex, self-harm, nudity, suicide, blood and gore, and smoking. There will be many disturbing scenes that parents would deem unsuitable for younger kids to watch. Overall, The Sandman is meant to be watched by mature audiences only.
