Either you loved it or you hated it, but either way, God’s Favorite Idiot is not returning to Netflix in August 2022. The Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy-created series was split into two parts, with part 1 being released on the streaming giant on June 15, 2022.

Reviews for the comedy show have been mixed, with some audiences being left disappointed, but for those who enjoyed the series, a major question on their mind is when will  God’s Favorite Idiot part 2 come to Netflix?

Well, here’s the latest updates on God’s Favorite Idiot part 2!

Does God’s Favorite Idiot part 2 have a release date?

Unfortunately, barely anything is known about the upcoming second part of God’s Favorite Idiot. A release date has yet to be revealed by the streamer, and it is unknown whether production and filming for part 2 has begun or not.

What we do know, however, is that there are currently no plans for a second season of the Ben Falcone and Melissa McCarthy-created series. According to reports, the show was originally planned as a 16-episode limited series and was set to be released at the same time, however, Netflix halted production in Australia after the first eight episodes had been shot, opting to instead release the show in two eight-episode batches instead, according to Screen Rant.

Of course, the unexpected split of the season resulted in God’s Favorite Idiot part 1 ending on multiple cliffhangers, with almost none of the season’s various threads being wrapped up.

According to Variety, the actors and crew have already been paid for the 16 episodes, so it’s unlikely that Netflix will cancel the series before its release despite its mixed reviews, so at least we might get some of our many questions answered once the series returns. But, as for when that could be? We’re not too sure right now.

You’ll have to stay tuned for more concrete updates for the God’s Favorite Idiot part 2 release.
