The Gray Man box office: How much money did the Netflix movie make in theaters?

Netflix’s highly anticipated movie The Gray Man has been out in theaters since July 15. And with a star-studded cast, it was bound to bring people in. But just how well is it doing in the box office?

Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans are in the starring roles of the action thriller. Not to mention actress Ana de Armas and Bridgerton‘s breakout star, Regé-Jean Page. And behind the scenes, two of the best directors in the business are who helmed the movie. The Russo Brothers, Antony and Joe, took the lead behind the camera.

The Gray Man introduces us to Court Gentry (Gosling), the CIA’s most skilled mercenary. The operative accidentally uncovers some dark secrets about the agency. This leads to him becoming a fugitive and now becoming the CIA’s primary target. His former colleague, Lloyd Hansen (Evans), is assigned to hunt the mercenary down.

The story is interesting and is actually based on a series of books by author Mark Greaney. Netflix has already shared that a sequel with Gosling and the The Russo Brothers is in the works! That means the film is doing well,  at least streaming wise. Can the same be said on the big screens?

How much did Netflix’s The Gray Man make in the box office?

According to IMDbPro, The Gray Man made $249,462 worldwide in the box office. It would be an understatement to say this movie cost Netflix a lot of money to make. The company gave it a $200 million budget. So at this time, Netflix is not breaking even with how much they spent. But the box office number could still increase.

The film is doing great online though. It’s currently in the number 1 spot for Netflix movies. The film hit the big screens in a limited release on July 15, and it was released on Netflix only a week later on July 22. Of course, there may have been some fans who headed to the cinema right away. But I bet most people were all right waiting an extra week so they could just watch the film from the comfort of their homes.

Warner Bros. Productions usually releases a film in the theater, then shares it on HBO Max or another streaming service around 45 days after its initial release. Next time, Netflix might want to wait a bit longer before sharing its production online. Or since the platform is known for streaming, perhaps it should just stick to the small screens.
