Is The Gray Man based on a book?

Yes! The action film is based on the 2009 novel of the same name by New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney. Greaney has a successful Gray Man book series consisting of 11 books with a 12th book scheduled to come out on February 21, 2023.

Although nothing is set in stone, the Russo Brothers are hoping to get the chance to adapt more of Greaney’s Gray Man books. As reported by Variety, Joe Russo was at a press event in Mumbai, India on July 21 and said, “It’s based on a book series [The Gray Man], so there is the opportunity to expand this into future movies. We love to keep going with the world because we love all the characters. But we need the audience to tell us whether they want to see more of the story or not.”

So if you want to see more of The Gray Man, make sure to stream the movie on Netflix on July 22. If the viewership numbers are high enough, Netflix might just give the go-ahead for sequels.
