Two popular science fiction shows are meeting in the middle at HBO for a new series currently in development called My Dentist’s Murder Trial. Stranger Things star David Harbour and The Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, have been tapped to play the project’s leading roles, reports Variety.

The series is inspired by an article that ran in The New Yorker titled “My Dentist’s Murder Trial: Adultery, False Identities, and a Lethal Sedation,” by James Lasdun.

Obviously, this series won’t have anything to do with Stranger Things or Star Wars, but it’ll still be cool to see Pascal and Harbour working together, especially as those two franchises share a lot of overlapping fans.

The article and story of My Dentist’s Murder Trial revolves around Dr. Gilberto Nunez, who was indicted for the death of his friend Thomas Kolman. It’ll be the latest in a trend of adapting these strange true crime stories into dramatic television like the recent series Candy, The Dropout, Dirty John, The Staircase and the many still to come.

Everything we know about My Dentist’s Murder Trial starring David Harbour and Pedro Pascal

Besides the basic news announcing this project is in development, not much else is known about the series just yet. It’ll be interesting to see when it films since both actors are busy with other notable projects. Harbour will be filming Stranger Things season 5 sometime soon, although filming for the final season probably won’t start until next year at the earliest.

Pascal recently wrapped filming on another HBO series, The Last of Us. The Mandalorian season 3 is also done filming and production on the fourth season probably won’t start for a while so if this project is moving forward, it seems like this fall or early next year would be an optimal time to film it with a premiere sometime later in 2023.

In addition to starring in the show, both actors will serve as executive producers. Steve Conrad (PatriotPerpetual Grace, LTD, Ultra City Smiths) will write and executive produce along with directing the pilot episode.

Variety reports that “Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch of Escape Artists will also executive produce along with Bruce Terris, Molly Allen, James Lasdun, and MGM Television. Taylor Latham of Escape Artists will co-executive produce.”
