Netflix star Julia Garner stuns with double nominations at Emmys 2022
By Reed Gaudens
If there’s one person who’s having an incredible year professionally, it’s Julia Garner. The Ozark star followed up the success of the Emmy-winning Netflix drama with the streamer’s hit limited series Inventing Anna. Now there’s even talk that she’s set to play Madonna.
Julia Garner, who has won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Ruth Langmore in Ozark, capped an amazing run with the Netflix drama this spring. In between both parts of the final season, she delivered another impeccable performance.
In Inventing Anna, Garner took the leading role in the true crime limited series as con artist and social climber Anna Delvey and blew fans away with her interpretation of Delvey’s accent. There was no doubt that she would walk away with an Emmy nomination in 2022 or either of the Netflix shows, but the star overachieved by landing nominations for both.
Exactly which Emmy categories is Julia Garner up for in 2022, and will the talented actress walk away with another win or two? Here’s everything to know about Garner’s 2022 Emmy nominations.
What is Julia Garner nominated for at the Emmys 2022?
For her performance in Ozark, Julia Garner earned her third nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. So far, she’s two for two in this category, winning the award in 2019 and 2020. Garner’s fellow castmates Jason Bateman and Laura Linney are also nominated for their leading roles in the series.
The supporting actress category for a drama series might be tougher for Garner to claim her third win for the final season. She’s up against Patricia Arquette (Severance), Jung Ho-yeon (Squid Game), Christina Ricci (Yellowjackets), Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul), J. Smith-Cameron (Succession), Sarah Snook (Succession), and Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria).
She’s also nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie category for her performance in Inventing Anna. It’s her first nomination in this category, and she’s definitely a frontrunner as far as we’re concerned.
Garner’s fellow nominees are Toni Collette (The Staircase), Lily James (Pam & Tommy), Sarah Paulson (Impeachment: American Crime Story), Margaret Qualley (Maid), and Amanda Seyfried (The Dropout). Congratulations and good luck to our favorite, Julia Garner!
Find out who wins in both categories when the 74th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards air Monday, Sept. 12 on NBC, and watch Garner in Ozark and Inventing Anna only on Netflix.
