Will Jonathan Bailey’s new show impact his Bridgerton season 3 role?
Jonathan Bailey has proven he’s such a pro at period dramas with his role in Bridgerton. And I’m sure the actor will knock it out of the park just the same in his new project, Showtime limited series Fellow Travelers.
Fellow Travelers is based on the novel of the same name by author Thomas Mallon. The new period drama is an epic love story and political thriller which will chronicle the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington.
One of those men is Bailey himself, taking on the role of Tim Laughlin. He is a young Fordham University graduate who is earnest about his political and religious beliefs and is filled with optimism about the post-WWII future, according to a press release. Playing opposite of Bailey as his love interest is actor Matt Bomer. His character, Hawkins Fuller, avoids emotional entanglements until he meets Tim. The two begin a relationship during a troubling time in 20th-century America as Joseph McCarthy and Roy Cohn declare war on “subversives and sexual deviants.”
I’m very excited to see Bailey in a new role! I know he’s going to do amazing. Fans always like to support actors in their other projects. Though you might be wondering if this new role will affect Bailey’s appearance as Viscount Bridgerton in the third season.
Will Jonathan Bailey’s new show impact his Bridgerton season 3 role?
According to the Showtime press release, Fellow Travelers should not impact Bailey’s role in Bridgerton season 3. The network states he will reprise his role in the third season. The actor himself also pretty much confirmed he would be coming back for the upcoming Regency-era season.
In what capacity, we don’t know. It could be as much as Phoebe Dynevor did in season 2. It could be more, or it could be less. But as long as we get to see the viscount and his viscountess in some scenes, I think we’ll all be happy!
I don’t think Fellow Travelers will impact the Bridgerton schedule much. (According to TV Line’s source, Bailey will return to the Netflix series as a series regular.) As far as we know, it seems like filming for season 3 has already begun. And again, depending on how much or how little Anthony appears, it should be an easy workaround. Also, Fellow Travelers is just an eight-episode limited series, so filming shouldn’t take long.
We don’t know for certain yet and don’t have all the answers, but I’m very hopeful we’ll get to see the head of the Bridgerton family and his lovely lady a good amount in Bridgerton season 3!
Bridgerton seasons 1 and 2 are streaming on Netflix.
