If there's one show that's at the top of the world's mind right now, it has to be The Bear. Not only will the series return with its third season in June 2024, but the dramedy recently cleaned up at the Emmy Awards, taking home every major award it was up for at the main ceremony, including the top prize and three acting trophies. It's unstoppable!

Emmy winners Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach star in the series about the chaos in the kitchen of a Chicago sandwich shop and all of the complicated interpersonal relationships that get fired up in the heat of the moment. Since its debut in 2022, The Bear has been one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed shows on streaming. But it's not available on Netflix.

The Bear is streaming on Hulu

As of March 2024, two seasons of The Bear are currently streaming on Hulu. The first season of eight episodes dropped all at once on June 23, 2022, and the 10-episode second season released all of its episodes one year later on June 22, 2023. The third season has been confirmed to be released in June 2024.

Because it's an FX on Hulu original series and a massive hit for the streamer, it's highly unlikely that The Bear will ever make its way to Netflix for streaming, especially not anytime soon. For shows with similar themes to watch on Netflix, check out Kim's Convenience, Chef's Table, From Scratch, Dead to Me, Beef, and Unstable.

If you would like to get started on watching The Bear to catch up in time to watch season 3, there are a number of Hulu plans available for everyone's needs. A plan with ads begins at $7.99 per month, but if you want to watch Hulu without commercials, that will run you 10 more dollars for a whopping $17.99 payment per month. Of course, there are additional plans, including Disney+ bundles and a live TV add-on.

Here are the available Hulu plans:

  • With ads: $7.99 per month
  • Ad-free: $17.99 per month
  • Hulu and Disney+ bundle with ads: $9.99 per month
  • Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle with ads: $14.99 per month
  • Disney+ and ESPN+ bundle: $24.99 per month
  • Hulu + Live TV: $76.99 per month
  • Ad-free Hulu + Live TV: $89.99 per month

Depending on your streaming needs, the basic ad-tier plan might be the way to go, though I would personally spring for the ad-free experience if Hulu will be a main source of streaming entertainment. However, the Disney+ bundle should also be a contender for those who might already be subscribed since it saves a few bucks to get both services on the same receipt.

How to sign up for Hulu:

1. Go to the Hulu homepage
2. Choose your plan from the varied options
3. Enter your payment method and finalize your account
4. Begin watchingThe Bear and more great content!

The Bear award wins

As previously mentioned above, the series has won a number of major awards, but it's not just its award wins that make it a must watch. The show currently holds an impressive 99% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the first season having a perfect 100% and the second at 99%. That's super impressive, and so are the show's award wins!

There has admittedly been contention with the show's inclusion in the comedy categories, given that it features more dramatic elements than straightforward, traditional comedic moments. But it's still designated as a comedy-drama and has a number of humorous sequences. The Bear will likely continue to sweep each award season if it's able to maintain its current quality, and there's no doubt that it will.
