The third episode of Sweet Tooth season 3, "The Pack," opens with a flashback to Rosie Zhang’s past 132 days after the government fell during the Great Crumble. The narrator says that she didn’t want children, but when she had them, “she’d give up everything to be a mother.”

Rosie is interrupted by her mother, who shares that Rosie’s father is dead. After living away from home, Rosie is on her own. She asks her mom to come home, but there’s a catch. She has to give up her four hybrid babies to train them as dogs. WTF, mom?

It's also revealed that Rosie’s children are the dogs who have been tracking Gus and the gang, the ones who eat Ven in his own home. I hate this so much, but I love a good twist, and I did not see that coming.

On the way to the coast, Gus asks about the Zhangs and why they’re after him. Dr. Singh reveals that the Zhangs have started a clinic for mothers. They’re trying to restart human birth, according to Singh, and Gus is “the key to fixing everything,” which is why Zhang is hunting him. It’s why Singh believes Gus needs to go to the cave and Alaska and find a way to stop this for good.

Back in Alaska, Siana is recruiting helpers to venture out and look for Birdie. The community members don’t want to do it, but Nuka tells them that Birdie would have come looking for them if they were lost. Finally, Odell volunteers to help.

On the way to the coast, Singh reveals that humans only have a few days left. Somehow, he knows this.

When they arrive at the coast, The Whale Song, the last boat to Alaska, is gone. It just left, and they aren’t coming back. They meet someone who tries to reach the boat via radio, but no one responds.

Our heroes spend a good chunk of the episode renovating a small dingy to use it to reach The Whale Song. The same woman asks The Whale Song to turn back when they’re trying their best to get this little boat in working order. We hear the call on Rosie’s radio in their truck as they’re headed for Nag’s Reef to capture Gus.

Becky and Jepp hatch a plan to keep Dr. Singh off the boat because they all can’t fit while Wendy duct tapes Gus’s antler back on his head. Wendy says that she believes in Gus no matter what happens. Oh, no. I think I see what's happening here.

Singh and Jepp have an intense conversation, one of the most intense in the show to date. Jepp doesn’t trust Singh, but Singh shares an important detail from his dream. When they are in the cave, it’s just him and Gus. Jepp and the rest of the group aren’t there.

Wendy gives the keys to the van to the woman who helped them. For a second, it seems like she’s having second thoughts about going to Alaska. Suddenly, Rosie and the dogs arrive. They start shooting at Gus, and he’s forced to run for the boat while Wendy and Becky take shelter. Jepp, Singh, and Gus make it to the boat. They set off looking for The Whale Song while Wendy and Becky get left behind.

After failing to catch Gus, Rosie decides she’s not going to back to Zhang Farms. Instead, she is going to stay at Nag’s Reef with her children.

Shortly after leaving, the boat breaks down and Jepp is forced to row. Things seem as bad as they could possibly be… until one of Rosie’s sons attacks Becky on the beach. Becky kills the hybrid just before Rosie arrives and knocks her out. Wendy is left on the beach, alone.

Finally after rowing forever, Guss, Jepp, and Singh reach The Whale Song.

This is one of the toughest episode of Sweet Tooth so far. Hopefully, the gang will be reunited soon, but I don't have high hopes.
