It’s time to binge watch, everyone! The Umbrella Academy season 3 is now out on Netflix and it’s another wild ride for the Brellies. This time around, our favorite siblings are up against a whole new crew — The Sparrow Academy. This family of siblings is just like the Umbrellas, only sharper and more sophisticated. And oh yeah, they actually know how to work together. Of course, the Umbrellas think they can take them at first, but they’re proven wrong and need a plan fast.
Spoilers ahead for The Umbrella Academy season 3.
It’s always something for the Umbrella Academy, and season 3 presents an even bigger threat than the Sparrows. As it turns out, when the siblings time-traveled back to the present-day, they also brought along a Kugelblitz. That would be a huge red ball of energy leading into a black hole. And it’s sucking up innocent civilians left and right with its kugel waves.
No one is safe in The Umbrella Academy season 3… except maybe for Klaus (Robert Sheehan), who, as it turns out, just cannot die.
We already knew that Klaus lives life on the edge, abusing alcohol and drugs as well as getting into dangerous situations. In episode 4 of The Umbrella Academy season 3, however, it seems like Klaus actually meets his end once Diego (David Castañeda) and Lilia’s (Ritu Arya) supposed son Stan (Javon “Wanna” Walton) shoots him straight in the chest with a spear gun. Klaus immediately falls to the ground and starts bleeding out, leading Stan (and us!) to believe he’s dead.
Is Klaus immortal in The Umbrella Academy?
But don’t worry, Klaus fans. As episode 5 opens up, we see the character waking up out in the woods and eventually finding himself on a beach. He then watches a sequence of experiences he’s had in his life, including one time as a teenager when he falls off a building at a party. Though Klaus previously believed these were all near-death experiences, he now realizes that they were actually deaths. He’s died multiple times before and has come back every time — 56 times to be exact.
So yes, Klaus is immortal for the majority of The Umbrella Academy. In fact, he dies and comes back to life countless times throughout the rest of the season, including a disturbing sequence where Reginald (Colm Feore) trains him and he gets hit by cars and trucks in the middle of the road repeatedly. Klaus also kills himself later on in the season when jumping up and impaling himself with a buffalo horn before the kugel wave can take him out.
In the end of The Umbrella Academy season 3, Klaus is very much alive. The whole world is reset and, unfortunately, everyone loses their powers. That means Klaus is now mortal at the conclusion of the season and if he dies again, it’ll likely be the final time.
There’s so much to unpack in The Umbrella Academy season 3! We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for a renewal for a potential Umbrella Academy season 4, and in the meantime be sure to keep up with us at Netflix Life for all the latest updates on the series.
