As he returns to work in a big way, he takes on the high-profile murder case of a tech billionaire. The series also stars Neve Campbell and Becki Newton as Haller’s ex-wives as well as other supporting characters who make the charming legal drama a must-watch.

When is The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 part 2 coming to Netflix?

On June 6, Netflix officially (and surprisingly!) announced The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 release date for summer 2023. The second season will be released in two parts: The first part of the season will drop on July 6, and the second part will arrive on Aug. 3.

Cameras started rolling on the second season of The Lincoln Lawyer in the fall of 2022. According to What’s on Netflix, filming on The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 began on Oct. 31. It finished up on March 28, 2023.

That was obviously very good news for those hoping to see The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 on Netflix this year, a hope that came true. Post-production clearly took place for at least five or six months.Previously, we were hoping to see The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 on Netflix sometime in the late summer or early fall.

What could happen next in The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 part 2?

In the first half of season 2, Mickey wraps up a case from the first season before his next major case falls into his lap. He had seemingly started a new relationship with Lisa (Lana Parrilla), a local chef who’s embattled in a war with a developer building up her neighborhood. Before long, she’s accused of his murder, and Mickey represents her in the tricky court battle.

By the midway point in season 2, Mickey’s trust in Lisa’s innocence wavers as things just don’t seem to add up. Meanwhile, in an effort to follow through with representing Lisa, he’s burned bridges with both of his ex-wives, Maggie and Lorna. The end of episode 5 picks up from the season’s opening scene: Mickey getting beat up in the parking garage.

Clearly, things aren’t really going Mickey’s way going into season 2 part 2, but he’s sure to pick himself back up from his bootstraps to see this case through. There are still so many unknowns, including who attacked him in the parking garage and if Lisa actually did murder Mitchell Bondurant. We’ll definitely get these answers in the season’s last five episodes!

The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 wrapped filming in March 2023

The Lincoln Lawyer’s showrunner Dailyn Rodriguez shared a post on Instagram announcing the wrap of filming on March 28. In the caption of the photo, which featured two chairs for herself and co-executive producer Matthew J. Lieberman, Rodriguez said:

"Today is the last day of production for Season Two of Lincoln Lawyer. This is my fifth season of television working with one of my best friends, @matthewlbrmn. He’s not only an amazing human but a talented writer/producer.We couldn’t have done this season without him or any of the writers. It’s a talented and kind group of people. Ted and I are so lucky.We also couldn’t have done it without this phenomenal cast and crew. It takes a village.Can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve cooked up."

In the comment section, new season 2 star Lana Parrilla commented, “Congratulations to you all! And I couldn’t agree more… MATT IS AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!” The excitement for the second season has only grown! We can’t wait to see the Once Upon a Time star bring her magic to The Lincoln Lawyer.

The Lincoln Lawyer cast

Given the kind of show The Lincoln Lawyer has set itself up to be — a procedural, though serialized, legal drama — there could be new characters and cast members added in each additional season, and there are for season 2. We also expect these core regulars to remain:

Christopher Gorham co-starred in the first season as Mickey’s client and billionaire Trevor Elliott, though he would likely not return for season 2.

Deadline reported that there are a few new cast members joining season 2, including:

• Yaya DaCosta as Andy
• David Clayton Rogers as Russell Lawson

Will Neve Campbell be in The Lincoln Lawyer season 2?

Fortunately, yes! As state above, Neve Campbell will be back in season 2 in her role as Maggie McPherson, but her role has been reduced from series regular to recurring. Campbell landed the leading role in the upcoming ABC series Avalon from The Lincoln Lawyer creator David E. Kelley.

It’s bittersweet that we won’t be seeing Campbell in every episode, and potentially without a full-season storyline of her own, we’re still excited to see Maggie pop up throughout the season and see what the future could hold for her in the series.

What book is The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 based on?

While the 2011 film The Lincoln Lawyer adapts the first Mickey Haller book, the Netflix series adapts the second: The Brass Verdict. Prior to the renewal announcement, it was unclear whether the series would go in the book order for any following season. But in that case, The Reversal would be next up for season 2.

Variety reports that The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 will also run for 10 episodes and will be based on the book The Fifth Witness, which is the fourth book in the series.

In total, there are six Mickey Haller books from author Michael Connelly, leaving five more for the Netflix series to pull from. The character also appears in a number of Bosch books, which cracks that door open as well.
