Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead cast, synopsis, release updates and more

On June 7 at Netflix Geeked Week, the streamer announced a new zombie film titled Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead and we’ve gathered all the important details about it to share with you!

Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead is an upcoming Japanese original movie directed by Yusuke Ishida from a screenplay written by Tatsuro Mishima. It’s based on the Japanese manga series of the same name by Haro Aso and illustrated by Kotaro Takata. You might be familiar with Aso because his manga series Alice in Borderland has already been adapted into a Netflix original series.

Sadly, Netflix didn’t provide many details about the zombie movie at Netflix Geeked Week, but we’ve shared what was announced right below.

Only one cast member has been announced so far. Eiji Akaso will be playing the main character, Akira Tendo. As the movie moves further in the filmmaking process, we’ll likely hear of more cast announcements.

The story follows Akira Tendo, a young man whose mundane life is turned around when a zombie apocalypse takes over Japan. Akira must fight to survive while also knocking off goals on his bucket list of 100 things to do before he’s turned into a zombie.

"In a trash-filled apartment, 24-year-old Akira Tendo watches a zombie movie with lifeless, envious eyes. After spending three hard years at an exploitative corporation in Japan, his spirit is broken. He can’t even muster the courage to confess his feelings to his beautiful co-worker Ohtori. Then one morning, he stumbles upon his landlord eating lunch-which happens to be another tenant! The whole city’s swarming with zombies, and even though he’s running for his life, Akira has never felt more alive!"

Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead release updates

Netflix has not announced an official release date yet. This isn’t surprising because the zombie movie was just greenlit. But we just might have a release year. Wikipedia reported that Zom 100: Bucket List Of The Dead is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2023. Although nothing has been confirmed, a 2023 release seems very probable. So, for now, you can expect the film to come out in 2023. We’ll definitely share the official release date once it’s announced.
