Downton Abbey: A New Era is out in theaters, but what about when it comes to streaming? Will the second Downton Abbey movie head to Netflix in the future?

The second Downton Abbey movie is finally out. It’s time to see what’s to come for the Crawley family, and there are hints of a wedding. Before the wedding can happen, we need to discover the mystery behind a certain inheritance.

The dowager countess finds out she inherits a villa in the south of France. This seems to be from family she doesn’t know, and it’s not like we’ve heard of family in France before. So, how exactly has she landed her hands on it, and what does it mean for the rest of the family as they travel to France to see the villa?

Is Downton Abbey: A New Era coming to Netflix?

Right now, the only place to watch the movie is in theaters. That’s not surprising. It’s the way things worked for the first movie.

Eventually, the movie is going to head to a streaming platform eventually. Which one is that going to be? Will there be a chance to watch the movie on Netflix?

Sadly, that’s not likely to be the case. Downton Abbey: A New Era is a Focus Features movie. Those movies used to head to HBO after the initial outing in theaters, but now they head to Peacock. It’s hard to say when the movie will arrive.

Update: The time frame has shortened with the Peacock licensing deal compared to the HBO deal, and we know Downton Abbey: A New Era will head to Peacock on June 24.

That’s not to say it’s never going to come to Netflix. Peacock is just the first streaming home. After that, movie rights head elsewhere, and we could eventually see it on Netflix for a short time.
