It’s never good news when you find out one of your favorite shows is leaving Netflix. You love having the luxury to binge-watch your shows at your leisure. But sadly, another iconic series will be leaving the streamer soon, and this show’s departure is very upsetting. All six seasons of Downton Abbey are scheduled to leave Netflix in June 2022.

If you’re not familiar with Downton Abbey, it’s a British historical drama series set in the early 20th century. It was created by Julian Fellowes and aired on ITV in the U.K. and on PBS in the U.S. The story follows the lives of the wealthy and aristocratic Crawley family and their servants in the family’s Edwardian country house.

The show has received critical acclaim and won numerous awards over its run, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and a Golden Globe Award for Best Miniseries or Television Film. Several years after the show completed its run, a film adaptation was confirmed to be in the works. The film was titled Downton Abbey and was released in 2019. A second film titled Downton Abbey: A New Era is also slated to be released. It will be released in the U.K. on April 29 and in the U.S. on May 20.

Many fans have started re-watching the entire series on Netflix to prepare for the second film. But now, fans will have to speed up the process with a departure date in sight.

When is Downton Abbey leaving Netflix?

According to What’s on Netflix, the historical drama series will be departing Netflix on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. This means that the last day to watch all six seasons on the streamer is May 31.

The departure date isn’t surprising because the television series was added again to the streamer on June 1, 2021. Apparently, Netflix only bought licensing rights for a year. The streamer likely had a choice to renew the contract but chose not to.

Don’t worry! I believe you have more than enough time to stream the entire series before it leaves Netflix.

Where to stream Downton Abbey

Fortunately, the series will still be available to stream on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video. If you would rather purchase or rent episodes, you can do so on iTunes, Google Play, Vudu, and Amazon Instant Video.
