Lonely Planet release updates, cast, synopsis, and more

A new romance film titled Lonely Planet is coming to Netflix. We’ve created a guide of all the important details about the upcoming original movie to share with you.

We first learned of this film in early April when Netflix first announced it. At the time, the streamer revealed that Jurassic World Dominion‘s Laura Dern and Poker Face‘s Liam Hemsworth had signed on to star in the romance movie with Unbelievable‘s Susannah Grant writing, producing and directing.

Although details surrounding the movie have been sparse thus far, more cast members have recently been added to the cast and production is officially in progress. So the ball is definitely rolling on Lonely Planet.

When is Lonely Planet filming?

It appears that production started on April 28, according to an Instagram post by Susannah Grant. On April 28, Grant posted a photo of camera equipment and a Lonely Planet clapboard with a date of April 28 written on it. The caption to the post reads, “Day 1, Marrakech #lauradern #liamhemsworth #netflix” So it also looks like filming is taking place in Marrakech, Morocco. Sadly, a wrap date is unknown at the moment.

Lonely Planet release updates

It’s hard to predict when the film could arrive on Netflix since it’s still in early production. However, our best release date prediction would be sometime in 2023. There’s a chance that it could come out by the end of 2022, but we’re not betting on it. We’ll share the official release date once Netflix announces it.

Lonely Planet cast

As we mentioned above, Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth will be starring in the romance movie. On May 9, Diana Silvers and Younès Boucif joined the cast. You might know Silvers from her role in the now-canceled Netflix original Space Force. Boucif played Nezir in the French original series Standing Up. As more cast members are announced, you’ll be the first to know.

Lonely Planet synopsis

The plot details are very scant at the moment. All that is known is that it’s a love story set in Morocco. Once more details about the plot are revealed, we’ll make sure to share them.
