If you haven’t watched the new Netflix teen romantic comedy series Heartstopper, you’re not only missing out on the cutest show you will watch all year (and maybe of all time), you’re missing out on what’s shaping up to be the best Netflix show of the year.

Based on the series of graphic novels by Alice Oseman, Heartstopper centers on teens Charlie Spring (Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor) as their crush on each other blossoms into more and sends them both on emotional journeys of self exploration.

Beyond Charlie and Nick’s adorable love story, the supporting cast of Charlie’s best friends are some of the strongest and most lovable characters you will ever meet. Particularly, Charlie’s good friend Isaac (Tobie Donovan) is introverted and always reading a book. Relatable!

Throughout the first eight episodes of Heartstopper (we’re hoping a second season is in the near future for the fan-favorite series), Isaac can be seen in various scenes reading a book as the drama goes down, and we have been wondering exactly what he’s been reading.

Isaac’s books in Heartstopper

Thankfully, some dedicated fans and avid readers tracked down the titles of the books Isaac reads in Heartstopper, and we’re ready to join his book club. Of course, you should pick up you copies of the books the series is based on, but these are great additions to your reading list.

Here are the books Isaac reads in each episode:

  • Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert
  • Naruto vol. 72 by Masashi Kishimoto
  • Quantum Mechanics: The Theoretical Minimum by Leonard Susskind
  • A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson
  • Proud by Gareth Thomas
  • Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
  • Radio Silence by Alice Oseman
  • Gender Explorers by Juno Roche
  • There’s No Planet B by Mike Brenners-Lee

As you can see, Isaac has a diverse and excellent taste in books. Between fiction and nonfiction, he has all his bases covered. He’s got classics, manga, and even a nod to the series creator and author Alice Oseman. Don’t mind if we steal your reading list, Isaac!

Hopefully, there will be many more scenes full of Isaac minding his business and reading good books to come. But we also wouldn’t mind getting to know the character behind the books, too. More than anything, we just want to see more Heartstopper, period.

Will you be picking up any of the books from Isaac’s reading list?
