We have bad news, Sex Education fans. Unfortunately, it looks like Simone Ashley will not be reprising her role as the popular girl Olivia Hanan in the upcoming Sex Education season 4. Actually, it looks like she won’t be returning to Sex Education at all.

Most people know Simone Ashley from her role as Kate Sharma in the smash-hit series Bridgerton, but she actually had a main role in one of Netflix’s top teen series, Sex Education, before being cast in the period drama. Although her role as Olivia is considered a main role, she barely had any scenes in the show. I mean, when you compare her starring role as Kate in Bridgerton to her role in the teen series, there’s simply no comparison.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed watching Simone in the teen series, but we didn’t get to see much of her character. She was more of a sidekick to Ruby (Mimi Keene). Fans mostly paid attention to the other main characters. But in Bridgerton season 2, she’s the female lead and the role has put Simone on the map. Everyone knows her name now.

However, we still thought Simone would return in the fourth season of the teen series. But now that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore. Below, we shared everything we know about Simone Ashley’s exit from Sex Education.

Why is Simone Ashley leaving Sex Education?

According to RadioTimes, Simone is leaving the teen series to focus on Bridgerton. It’s not surprising that she’s not going to be in the teen series anymore. Simone’s role as Kate in the period drama put her in the spotlight, unlike her role in the teen series.

When asked about her Sex Education future on the British talk show This Morning, Simone said, “I get asked that all the time. No, I’m a Bridgerton girl now.” So that pretty much confirms that she won’t be in future seasons of the teen series.

After news came out that Simone will be in Bridgerton season 3, it makes sense why she won’t be returning to Sex Education. However, it’s unclear how the Sex Education writers will address her exit in the show and that’s if they choose to do so.

We can’t wait to see Simone Ashley in the upcoming Bridgerton season 3 with her on-screen husband, Jonathan Bailey. Stay tuned to Netflix Life for more news and coverage on Bridgerton season 3 and Sex Education season 4!
