What happened on the Queen Charlotte set?

On Monday, April 11, Netflix confirmed that production designer David Arrowsmith is no longer working on the show. The outlet says there are no details regarding exactly what happened or why Arrowsmith is out, but The Sun previously claimed that his behavior toward his colleagues had “crossed a line.” He was allegedly accused of bullying on the set.

Prior to Queen Charlotte, Arrowsmith has worked on many shows, both in the U.K. and the U.S., including Cold Feet, Whiskey Cavalier and Deadwater Fell.

Bullying has been a problem plaguing Hollywood stateside and abroad for some time and only really started coming to light on a global scale in the wake of the #MeToo movement. Deadline notes that back in February, it was revealed that Paramount Global had severed ties with British producer Gobstopper TV over bullying allegations.

Not much information is available on the allegations beyond what was reported in the Deadline article. The outlet reached out to Arrowsmith’s rep for comment, so stay tuned to Netflix Life for additional updates.
