Metal Lords is a new coming-of-age teen comedy movie on Netflix. The film is rated R and intended for mature audiences, but the cast features teenage characters. Does that mean you can watch the film with your family?

I did watch the film, and I think it’s a mild R, mainly for language more than anything else. However, it will be up to the parent’s discretion to decide whether or not the movie is appropriate for their kids. Keep reading for a complete breakdown of the film and what to keep in mind before watching.

What is the Metal Lords age rating?

Metal Lords is rated R for language throughout, sexual references, nudity and drug/alcohol use, all involving teens.

Is there nudity or sexual content in Metal Lords?

Having seen the movie, I can tell you there isn’t much nudity. The only scene I recall is one quick moment at a party where several teenagers run by, and you can see their nude backsides, but it’s brief.

As for sexual content, sex is discussed and implied to happen off-screen, but there aren’t any sex scenes.

Is there bad language in Metal Lords?

The film secured its R-rating because of the language. There is a lot of cursing, crude jokes and some sexual references scattered throughout the entirety of the movie. Out of everything mentioned, the language is the most adult.

Is there drug use in Metal Lords?

There is a scene of teens partying, drinking alcohol and using drugs, but it’s not anything too extreme. Actually, the teen partying is relatively tame for an R-rated movie.

Are there any frightening scenes in Metal Lords?

There are some scenes of bullying that might be disturbing to young viewers. Additionally, there is one graphic scene at the ending involving a serious injury, but it’s not super frightening, it’s just a little gross.
