If you’re looking for a fun comedy movie to watch this weekend, look no further than Netflix because Metal Lords is coming out this Friday, April 8. This R-rated teen comedy is a witty and irreverent new flick directed by Peter Sollett (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) from a screenplay written by D.B. Weiss of Game of Thrones fame.

The upcoming movie is sure to appeal to fans of Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist (since they share a director and are both musically focused), Bandslam, Raise Your Voice and SuperbadJaeden Martell, Isis Hainsworth, Adrian Greensmith, Sufe Bradshaw, Noah Urrea, Analesa Fisher, Michelle Fang, Phelan Davis, Brett Gelman and Joe Manganiello.

Metal Lords‘ release is just two days away, so we’ve compiled everything you need know about the film. Below you’ll find the synopsis and more.

Metal Lords synopsis

Metal Lords takes place in a high school where teenage outcasts Kevin (Jaeden Martell) and Hunter (Adrian Greensmith) are eager to start a heavy metal band, but it’s hard to start a band with just two guys and they seem to be the only two in the entire school who actually care about the metal genre. Hunter is a diehard fan who knows his history inside and out.

All he wants is to win the Battle of the Bands, so he enlists his best friend to play the drums. Kevin and Hunter are at a loss of where to find more band members in a school where no one cares about Black Sabbath until Kevin overhears Emily (Isis Hainsworth) playing her cello and realizes she might be the answer to all of their prayers. The motley crew must band together against teen angst, parents, hormones and more to win the contest and be worshipped like gods.

Metal Lords rating

The film is rated R, meaning it may not be suitable for children ages 17 and under. Scenes may contain sexual references, language, nudity and drug/alcohol usage, all involving teens.

Metal Lords runtime

It’s not too long, only about 1 hour and 37 minutes which is an ideal runtime, in my opinion!

Metal Lords releases this Friday, April 8, on Netflix.
