The Office

The Office is one of the greatest television shows of all time, and this isn’t just my opinion. Rolling Stone magazine seems to agree as well. The comedy sitcom follows the work lives of employees at a paper supply company. The first season premiered on NBC in 2005 and received mixed reviews from critics. However, as the seasons went on, the show found an audience and grew in popularity. As a result, The Office managed to win several awards, such as a Golden Globe Award, four Emmy Awards, a Peabody Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

What I like most about The Office is the way it’s shot. The show uses a documentary format that adds another comical aspect. There are so many colorful, relatable characters and the dry humor is simply the best. There have been tons of similar shows that have come out after The Office, and they’re not bad, but they’re not iconic like The Office. We need a reboot, and it would be nice if our favorite streamer picked it up. However, if there were to be a reboot, Netflix most likely wouldn’t be the streamer to pick it up since the show is a Universal production. Still, we could only hope.

Skins U.S.

Other than Glee, I would say Skins is one of my favorite shows ever! Skins is a British television series that had a series run of seven seasons. In 2011, a Skins U.S. remake premiered on MTV. I didn’t really like the remake as much as the original because I felt like it was too different. It didn’t give off the Skins vibe. It was more like a watered-down version, which pretty much made it its own show. Apparently, MTV thought the opposite because they pulled the plug on the teen series after just one season, with the reasoning being that content shown in the show was too much for an American audience.

What I loved most about the original series was how diverse the cast was, the LGBTQ representation, the acting, and the relatability. I think Skins U.S.just needs a second chance to prove that it can be just as good as the original. The American audience wasn’t ready for a show like Skins in 2011, but now we have similar shows like Euphoria on HBO Max. We just need Netflix to hand out a season order for a Skins U.S. reboot. Fingers crossed!
