What is The Witcher season 3 going to be about? New plot synopsis released

On Monday, April 4, The Witcher fans got a couple of fun surprises. We confirmed that The Witcher season 3 had started production last week, but we got an official official confirmation today. The Witcher Netflix Twitter account shared a photo of Henry Cavill, Freya Allan and Anya Chalotra together on location to show that the season is filming.

But even more exciting is that the account shared the plot summary for the upcoming season! We’re still a long way off from seeing the third season on Netflix, but it’s always exciting to get updates on what to expect.

The Witcher season 3 synopsis

As you can see from the embedded tweet, we’ve got our first look at Ciri, Geralt and Yennefer reunited again. We also know what we can anticipate from The Witcher season 3.

According to the synopsis, Geralt will take Ciri into hiding as “monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her.” By the end of season 2, we finally started to see the beginnings of the family Ciri, Yennefer and Geralt will become. In season 3, Yennefer will take them to the fortress of Aretuza to learn more about Ciri’s powers and start her magical training.

Unfortunately, they’ll be up against dark and powerful forces and must risk everything to fight back or risk losing each other forever.

The Witcher season 3 release date predictions

Since filming has just started, it does not seem likely that The Witcher season 3 will be released before the year is over. It seems much more likely that the next season will come out in 2023, although it’s not yet clear what time of year Netflix might release it.

It’ll be easier to forecast once we know when the planned prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, is coming out, but I also would not be too surprised if Netflix chose to hold The Witcher until the end of 2023 since the first two seasons were released in the winter.
