Bridgerton season 2 is now streaming on Netflix and audiences across the globe are already loving the hit series’ second season!

In season 2, our attention shifts from Daphne Bridgerton to her eldest brother Anthony, who is finally ready to settle down and find a partner to spend his life with. While Anthony initially sets out on courting the ton’s newest arrival Edwina Sharma, sparks soon fly between Anthony and Edwina’s older sister Kate making for quite the complicated courting season.

Much like season 1, Bridgerton season 2 features adult themes which has led many parents to question whether the season is safe to watch with their kids and exactly what can be expected from the new season.

If you’re hoping to get a clearer sense of what content awaits you in season 2, we’ve created this helpful parents guide to provide you with clarity regarding the season’s age rating and mature content including whether the season contains any nudity, drug use, or violent scene that might not be suitable for younger audiences.

Warning: The following Bridgerton season 2 parents guide contains spoilers connected to the second season of Bridgerton, some of the more mild manner and some pertaining to major moments from the season. 

What is the Bridgerton season 2 age rating?

Bridgerton season 2 has an age rating of TV-MA, an age rating that is assigned to programs intended to be viewed by mature, adult audiences and are not recommended for individuals under 17.

According to TV parental guidelines, programs that receive a rating of TV-MA often contain at least one of the following: crude indecent language, explicit sexual activity, or graphic violence. In the case of Bridgerton, the show’s TV-MA rating is most likely the result of the show’s sexual activity.

Is there nudity in Bridgerton season 2?

Bridgerton season 2 contains several sex scenes which include partial nudity, moaning and thrusting. In addition to the show’s sex scenes, there are also a few scenes of a non-sexual manner which include partial nudity connected to Benedict Bridgerton’s time at an art academy.

In the first episode of Bridgerton season 2, there is a scene that features partial rear male nudity when the character Anthony Bridgerton slips out of bed after spending the night with a courtesan.

Bridgerton season 2 episode 5 features a few scenes which include partial nudity, first in the form of a topless female model and later during a sex scene between two characters which features partial male and female nudity during a montage at the episode’s end.

In season 2 episode 7, there are additional scenes containing partial nudity including another topless female model who appears during a scene at Benedict’s art school. The episode also features an intense sex scene between leads Anthony and Kate which includes partial nudity, thrusting and moaning.

Finally, in the season 2 finale, there is yet another sex scene between the characters Anthony and Kate which contains scenes that include partial nudity and moaning.

Is there drug use in Bridgerton season 2?

The second season of Bridgerton does contain drug use with alcohol often shown at meals and social gatherings. The Queen is once again seen sniffing snuff, a  smokeless form of tobacco,  on several occasions throughout the season.

The third episode of the season also features a scene in which Colin Bridgerton prepares a drink for his brother Benedict which contains an unknown drug which results in Benedict experiencing a high as the result of the unidentified substance.

Are there any frightening scenes in Bridgerton season 2?

For the most part, there is not much violence within Bridgerton‘s second season. However, there are a few scenes that might frighten younger audiences.

The first scene occurs in the third episode of the season in which a character dies suddenly as the result of a bee sting.

Later in the season, one character is seen horseback riding during a storm and is bucked off of the horse. After being flung from the horse, the character hits their head and passes out. When they’re discovered by another character, blood can be seen coming from their head as the result of their injury. Although the character survives, the ordeal could be frightening to younger audiences.
