Best horror movies on Netflix March 2022

If you search horror on Netflix, I think you will be surprised at all of the choices the streamer has to offer. Check out what’s coming in March 2022.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

The original film in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise will release on Netflix on March 1. Wes Craven wrote and directed this film that would spawn the series of films to follow.

The film was Johnny Depp’s debut and introduced horror fans to Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, a serial killer with a gloved hand, fitted with razor’s that he uses to kill people in their dreams.

A Nightmare on Elm Street was met with rave reviews and considered one of the best horror films ever made.

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

The 2010 film in the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise is a remake of the above-mentioned film. This film was met with mostly negative reviews but praised director Samuel Bayer’s faithfulness to the original.

The film is the first time someone other than Robert Englund portrayed Freddy, which he had done for the previous eight movies. This time, Jackie Earle Haley played the role of the villain and has been praised by some for making the character his own.

Any true fan of the franchise will always compare everything to the original, but this one is worth a watch if only to see how closely it follows the first film.

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)

Freddy vs. Jason pits the villains from A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th horror franchises against one another. The film also marks Robert Englund’s final appearance as Freddy Krueger.

The synopsis of this film is that Freddy, who has been stuck in hell, resurrects Jason and convinces him to go on a killing spree, which will facilitate his own return. This act will then see the two killers come up against the other.

Freddy vs. Jason is one that fans of both franchises can appreciate for what it is: a cheesy, gory, slasher film.

Texas Chainsaw 3D (2013)

The seventh film in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise served as a direct sequel to the 1974 original that was supposed to be the story’s final chapter. After this film came the prequel, Leatherface, and now the Netflix original direct sequel has also been released.

The film picks up where the original left off and has left behind the 1970s feel of the original. This film keeps the blood bath theme going, which Leatherface is known for, and takes it a step further with the 3D version. Texas Chainsaw 3D is a predictable slasher that is an excellent watch for the gore factor.

The Gift (2015)

The Gift is a psychological thriller written and directed by Joel Edgerton, who also stars in the film with Jason Bateman and Rebecca Hall.

Simon and Robyn (Bateman and Hall) are a married couple who are reacquainted with a former classmate, Gordo (Edgerton). When he begins to visit the couple unannounced and showers them with mysterious gifts, things take a strange turn.

Rotten Tomatoes has given this film a 91% rating, which has been praised for Edgerton’s direction and screenplay and Bateman’s performance.
