Who does Helen end up with in Sweet Magnolias season 2?

Sweet Magnolias season 2 is finally streaming on Netflix after a nearly two-year hiatus, but as those who have already seen the season can attest — the season was well worth the wait!

Season 2 is filled with several exciting and surprising new developments, particularly on the personal fronts of the Sweet Magnolias whose relationship statuses have never been more complicated than we see in season 2.

Unlike Maddie or Dana Sue, Helen ended season 1 newly single after she broke up with Ryan due to his stance on not wanting children. The breakup seemed to open the door for her flirtation with Dana Sue’s sous chef Erik to flourish into something new, while also leaving the door open for a possible reconciliation with Ryan.

Season 2 seemed to tip the scale in one particular gentleman’s favor, right up until the last moment of the season with the other man in Helen’s life made a life-altering leap of faith that has viewers wondering who exactly Helen ends up with.

Do Helen and Erik end up together in Sweet Magnolias season 2?

Following her breakup with Ryan, Helen discovers that she’s pregnant and tries to keep things on the down-low by only telling her friends about the news which has her feeling quite elated about the potential of becoming a mother.

Unfortunately, early in the season, Helen loses the baby and embarks on a difficult journey of working through the unmeasurable loss. As she begins the healing process, Maddie and Dana Sue are right by her side but the pair aren’t the only ones looking out for her along the way as Erik is by Helen’s side through it all.

In time, Helen begins to open herself back up to pursue a new relationship with Erik and the pair’s friendship begins to evolve into something more.

By the end of the season, Helen has started a new relationship with Erik and the two seem to be in a good place… that is until Ryan returns to town and throws Helen a major curveball.

Do Helen and Ryan end up together in Sweet Magnolias season 2?

After missing most of the season, Ryan finally returns towards the end of Sweet Magnolias season 2 and wastes no time trying to mend fences with Helen.

Following the death of his aunt, Ryan realizes how precious time is and makes a passionate declaration to Helen about wanting to waste whatever time they might have by not being together — even going as far as to say his stance on having children has changed.

Helen initially brushes him off, but in the final moments of the season 2 finale, Ryan catches Helen outside the Corner Spa where he gets down on one knee and asks Helen to marry him!

That’s right, season 2 ends with a shocking proposal that leaves viewers to question whether Ryan and Helen will get back together in season 3.  While Helen and Ryan did not end up together in season 2, Ryan’s proposal could prove to be a gamechanger come season 3 as Helen finally chooses between Ryan and Erik once and for all!
