A new sports drama is making its way to Netflix by the name of Redd Zone. The streamer isn’t new to the sports arena, however, many of the Netflix originals focused on the genre are documentaries or docuseries like the newly released second season of Cheer or 2021’s Naomi Osaka.

Redd Zone is a film, specifically one focused on found family in the aftermath of a tragedy a football team suffers. Emmy nominated screenwriter Kristin Layne Tucker is attached to the project as is Oscar-winning director Matthew A. Cherry.

Jada Pinkett Smith has been tapped for the lead role. She, along with Miguel Melendez and Co-President and Head of Motion Pictures for Westbrook studios Jon Mone, will produce. Howard Burkons and Brandon Magee will executive produce.

Here’s what more we know about Redd Zone.
