It’s finally 2022, and some of the best Netflix shows are coming back with new seasons this year. Likewise, Netflix will also debut so many new original series, some of which are starting 2022 off with a bang in January 2022.

The first mont of the year is notoriously not as packed with big shows as the summer and fall months, and that’s partially true for January 2022. But the month also brings some big stars and highly anticipated new seasons.

Whether you’re still catching up with December 2021 new releases such as Emily in Paris season 2 and Cobra Kai season 4 or ready to start adding new titles to your watch list, there are plenty of Netflix shows to watch — or skip! — coming this month.

Best Netflix shows January 2022

Among the upcoming Netflix new releases in January 2022 are the new Kristen Bell dark comedy The Woman in the House, two docu-reality shows, some thrillers, and a pair of enticing new teen shows. Check out the full list here, and let’s start below with Ozark season 4.

Ozark season 4, part 1

Watch! As if anyone will pass up the opportunity to binge-watch the first seven episodes of Ozark season 4. If you’re not caught up on the Emmy-winning drama series, it’s time to get on board in time for the final season. Don’t skip what will be one of the biggest Netflix shows of the year when part 1 stars streaming on Jan. 21.

The Woman in the House

Watch! Even though the title of Netflix’s new Kristen Bell-led limited series might be a little tedious, it’s all in good fun. Don’t let it steer you away from the eight-episode gripping dark comedy on Jan. 28. Bell stars in The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window as an avid wine drinker who believes she’s witnessed a murder. We’re in!

Hype House

Skip! For better or worse, Netflix leans into the rise of online celebrities with the documentary series Hype House. The first season of the TikTok star vehicle drops on Jan. 7 and chronicles the behind-the-scenes drama of the app’s biggest creators. Unless you’re severely craving some trashy reality television that you can’t get elsewhere, keep this one far away from your watch list.

Archive 81

Watch! Although there aren’t very many high-profile premieres of Netflix shows in January, the streamer has a few new offerings that are worth the watch. The sci-fi mystery series Archive 81 could be the next big thriller on Netflix. Check out the first season of the chilling new series when it arrives on Jan. 14.

After Life season 3

Watch! The final season of the Ricky Gervais dark comedy series After Life helps kick off January 2022 with some deep emption. After Life season 3 leads the new overall deal Gervais signed with Netflix, which will see the actor and comedian developing various shows and specials. Cheer season 2

Skip! We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again: Skip Cheer. (But don’t ever skip Cheers.) The buzzy cheerleading documentary series that took the world by storm in early 2020 returns with its long-awaited followup season on Jan. 12. Only time will tell if fans are still interested in Cheer, but don’t feel the need to rush to keep up with pop culture on this one.

In from the Cold

Watch! What January 2022 lacks in huge season premieres on Netflix, the month makes up for with intriguing new series. In from the Cold centers on a former Russian spy who gets exposed while also attempting to excel at being a single mom and taking on a major enemy. The thriller could be one of the next best new Netflix shows when it drops on Jan. 28.

All of Us are Dead

Watch! The end of the month is jam-packed with new Netflix shows, including the Korean drama series All of Us are Dead on Jan. 28. The teen drama series finds a group of high school students fighting their way through a zombie outbreak in their school.

Summer Heat

Skip! Speaking of teen dramas, Netflix also debuts the Brazilian teen series Summer Heat on Jan. 21. If you’re looking for an escape to summer in these winter months, give the sunny, soapy series a shot, or you could just watch Outer Banks again. The choice is yours!
