Cobra Kai season 4: Who is Albert Omstead?

One of Netflix’s most popular shows is back for another season, and fans of this karate dramedy cannot wait to binge every single episode. Cobra Kai season 4 sees even more drama than past installments, and it’s bound to leave you emotional in the finale.

The new season opens up right where we left off, with Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) and Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) joining forces to take down John Kreese (Martin Kove) and Cobra Kai. But with the history these two Sensei share, plus the fact that Kreese recruits another big bad to join the dojo, it doesn’t work out as planned.

Though it seemed as though Johnny and Daniel would be able to work together for the sake of the kids, they prove in season 4 that there’s still too much animosity between them. They decide to compete in the All Valley tournament as their separate dojos, Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang.

At the end of episode 7, there’s an in memoriam dedication to someone named Albert Omstead. Considering he’s not part of the cast, viewers might be wondering who this person is and why he has a tribute in Cobra Kai season 4.

Who is Albert Omstead in Cobra Kai?

Although Omstead was not an actor on the show, he did work on it. According to his IMDb page, he worked in the Camera and Electrical Department on Cobra Kai, with credits on all episodes of season 4. He had also worked on popular shows such as Lovecraft Country, The Walking Dead and Stranger Things.

Albert Omstead sadly passed away on July 19, 2021 after a retaining wall fell on him in a freak accident. As reported by 11 Alive, he was trying to stop a leak at his home when “the entire thing just collapsed on top of him,” said his brother-in-law, Scott Wachtel. At 38 years old, Omstead was a husband and a father-of-five. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

We couldn’t find information as to why Cobra Kai dedicated episode 7 of season 4 to Omstead, especially considering his IMDb page credits him with working on the full season. If and when we do find out these specifics, we’ll be sure to update this article.
