Cobra Kai spoilers: What will happen in season 5?

Now that Cobra Kai season 4 is out, the good news is that the show is not over. Cobra Kai season 5 is in the works, and in fact, it’s already done filming! Although we don’t know for sure what will happen until we get a synopsis or trailer, we can make a few guesses.

For starters, Johnny and Robby will likely be in a better place come season 5. They won’t be the best of friends, of course, considering Johnny isn’t great with communication, but they’ll hopefully have an actual relationship.

It’s possible Miguel won’t be in Cobra Kai for the beginning of season 5, but we don’t expect him to leave the show completely. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a time jump between seasons 4 and 5 and Miguel is back in California come the season 5 premiere. That’s just speculation for now, though!

Though Miguel and Sam are still in love, they’re going to have to have some vulnerable conversations if they want to save their relationship. They had some jealousy issues in season 4, for good reason, but we know they still want to be together.

In Cobra Kai season 5, it’s possible Kreese will join the good guys now that he’s out of Cobra Kai. Although, he was just arrested in the season 4 finale, so we’ll see how much jail time he gets.

Is Cobra Kai season 6 happening?

Although it would be awesome if Cobra Kai was officially taken down next season, we don’t think it’s likely. This is because season 5 probably won’t be the last season. Macchio revealed during an interview in Dec. 2020 that the writers want six seasons, meaning there will still be more story to tell from the dojos beyond season 5:

"“The writers have always felt they had six seasons in their head, where the story arcs can go. So that should all land when the time is right. You don’t want to overstay your welcome, but the fans are having fun and there’s more story there. As long as we’re allowed to keep doing it, [Zabka] and I are in.”"
