Cobra Kai season 5: Creator Jon Hurwitz shares major update

Cobra Kai season 4 premieres on Netflix on Dec. 31, 2021. We’re ending the year with one of the best Netflix shows, but there’s already some good news to share about Cobra Kai season 5.

Netflix announced Cobra Kai season 5 was in the works earlier this year. Since then, fans have been waiting for the latest news on what’s next for the new season of the Netflix original series.

Cobra Kai co-creator Jon Hurwitz just shared a major filming update for season 5. According to Hurwitz, production has wrapped on Cobra Kai season 5, as of Dec. 19, 2021.

Cobra Kai season 5 release date

Production on Cobra Kai started in late summer/early fall in Atlanta and wrapped during the final month of the year. What does this mean for Cobra Kai season 5? It’s all good news!

Cobra Kai season 3 premiered on Netflix on Jan. 1, 2021. We’re obviously seeing season 4 on New Year’s Eve this year. So, Netflix released the last season about a year apart.

With production complete, Cobra Kai season 5 probably won’t take a full year to hit Netflix. We know how Netflix likes to space new seasons of big shows out, but we can’t imagine having to wait until New Year’s Eve next year to watch Cobra Kai season 5.

Netflix hasn’t shared any release info for season 5. We’re likely going to have to wait until at least six months for season 5, which means the earliest we could see the new season would be in June or July 2022.

I think it’s more likely that we’ll have to wait until September or October for the new season, but we’ll just have to wait and see when Netflix wants to drop this new season.

There’s no doubt Cobra Kai season 5 is one of the best Netflix shows coming in 2022.
