Without leaning too much on hyperbole, there are a few shows that are simply a once-in-a-lifetime experience. For instance, and get your groans out now, but we’ll never have another Friends. Similarly, there will never be another show to get the precarious blend of comedy, fantasy, drama, romance and philosophy just right quite like NBC’s homerun hit The Good Place.

The Good Place stars Kristen Bell, who will next appear in Netflix’s miniseries The Woman in the House, as Eleanor Shellstrop new resident of the Good Place. Almost immediately, Eleanor realizes there’s been a clerical error and she actually belongs in the Bad Place. Through a winding road (some might call it a Jeremy Bearimy) of shocking twists, Eleanor learns the ropes of the afterlife.

How many shows have you seen about dead people that are as surprisingly funny and not depressing as The Good Place? You can probably count them on one hand, if that. The Emmy-nominated series may not have been a ratings giant, but The Good Place sure left its mark in such a short amount of time. With four fantastic seasons, you have nothing to lose but laughs.
