Even though we have more than likely been watching more television than ever, it’s still entirely possible to completely miss one of the latest Netflix new releases. But those who didn’t miss #blackAF know that it’s one of the funniest new Netflix original series, and maybe even one of the funniest Netflix original series period. In need of comic relief? Look no further.

From Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, #blackAF stars the creator as a fictionalized version of himself, with Rashida Jones playing his (fictional) wife Joya Barris. The mockumentary-style family sitcom centers around the Barris family in their new money world. Through their unfiltered lens, the family attempts to “get it right” in spite of their hilarious fumblings.

#blackAF premiered on Netflix in April 2020 and earned mixed reception from critics. Although the comedy wasn’t necessarily one of the year’s most talked about new shows, Netflix renewed #blackAF for a second season, which was later reversed. If you missed out on this one-of-kind #funnyAF original series the first time around, it’s never too late to join the party.
