One of the most anticipated Netflix movies of 2021 is here, and fans of Adam McKay can’t wait to check out his latest release. Don’t Look Up is a satirical movie symbolizing the climate crisis and how badly people in power around the world are handling it. It’s bound to make viewers angry with the way many of the characters act, which is the whole point.

In Don’t Look Up, the world is facing the most dangerous threat in history as a comet is headed towards the planet at high speed. In just a short amount of time, it’ll destroy the Earth and all of mankind. But unfortunately for Dr. Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Kate (Jennifer Lawrence), the two astronomers at Michigan State University who discovered the comet, people either don’t believe them or simply don’t care.

Don’t Look Up rating

The new movie dropped on Netflix today, Dec. 24, just in time for the holidays. But is this one you can watch with the whole family? Well, no. Don’t Look Up is rated R and is not appropriate for kids.

Don’t Look Up includes a lot of profanity, as well as some drug use. Though the movie is really funny at some points, it could also be seen as frightening towards the end (no spoilers).

Don’t Look Up nudity

The biggest reason Don’t Look Up is rated R and not suitable for children, however, would likely be the nudity. There’s some nudity throughout the film, but there’s graphic nudity in the mid-credits scene. Without giving away plot spoilers, multiple people are seen fully nude for a few minutes, showing front and back.

If nudity is what’s keeping you from letting a child or teenager watch Don’t Look Up, you could likely just skip the mid-credits scene and watch it on your own later on.

The film is meant for adults to watch, but if you’re considering letting a kid watch with you, check out the detailed Parents Guide on IMDb right here.
