Emily in Paris season 2 finally premiered in time to binge-watch over the holiday break, and the new episodes of the Emmy-nominated romantic comedy series are answering the big questions. Namely, what’s going on between Emily and Gabriel?

When we last left Emily and Gabriel in the Emily in Paris season 1 finale, they succumbed to their feelings for each other in the heat of the moment. Of course, that moment entailed the belief that Gabriel would be leaving Paris to open a restaurant in Normandy.

Obviously, after the dust settled from their passionate moment, Gabriel stays in Paris and Emily finds herself in the middle of her friend Camille and her boyfriend, which wasn’t a place she had expected to find herself.

Do Emily and Gabriel end up together in Emily in Paris season 2?

To immediately answer the burning question of Emily and Gabriel’s relationship status, the couple unfortunately don’t end up together in Emily in Paris season 2.

Although the stars didn’t align for the currently star-crossed couple, Emily and Gabriel do share some kisses and a lot of feelings throughout season 2. It’s clear that they both want to be with each other, but because of certain circumstances, they can’t act on their feelings.

When the season kicks off, Emily feels extraordinary guilt for sleeping with Gabriel, who happens to be the boyfriend of her close friend Camille. (In her defense, Emily didn’t know they were an item back when she caught feelings, but she did when they slept together.)

Emily attempt to minimize and hide that fact that she’s in love with Gabriel, in spite of him being open to her about how he feels, by talking to Alfie and saying she will only be in Paris for one year. But she finally stops doing what she thinks she should do and starts doing what she wants.

In the lead up to the cliffhanger ending of the season, Emily knocks on Gabriel’s door to profess her love for him to be slapped in the face with the realization that he asked Camille to move in with him. Suddenly, Emily’s too late and doesn’t get the guy this time around.
