The Witcher is one of the most popular shows on Netflix. Based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher follows the ventures of Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter. There is so much more to this world and story, though, and so much rich history from the books that would make for more great shows.

Netflix is expanding the cinematic and TV world of The Witcher with various prequels and spinoffs, including The Witcher: Blood Origin. For a long time, we didn’t know much about the project, but now, we’re learning SO MUCH about the new Netflix show.

We’ve shared what we know about The Witcher: Blood Origin below.

The Witcher: Blood Origin release date

The Witcher: Blood Origin is coming to Netflix sometime in 2022. Netflix confirmed that at the end of 2021. It’s definitely one of the best Netflix shows coming in 2022.

Unfortunately, Netflix hasn’t revealed the exact date for the new series. Production on The Witcher: Blood Origin wrapped in November 2021. That’s super exciting, but it doesn’t mean the series will be arriving in early 2022.

In fact, we’ll likely be waiting until at least the fall of 2022 before The Witcher: Blood Origin premieres on Netflix.

Netflix has released The Witcher seasons in December, so there’s a good chance we’ll see Blood Origin in December 2022.

Netflix might not make us wait quite that long, especially if the season is finished within the next couple of months. For now, expect a Q3 or Q4 release date (between July-December 2022).

The Witcher: Blood Origin synopsis

Netflix shared the synopsis for The Witcher: Blood Origin in December 2021. We shared the synopsis below:

"Set in an elven world 1200 years before the world of The Witcher, Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “conjunction of the spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one."

The Witcher: Blood Origin cast
