But what Christmas movies can kids watch during the countdown? We’ve got you covered! Here’s our list of the best kids Christmas movies on Netflix in 2021.

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

This Christmas movie came out in 2020, so it’s not really considered an oldie because it came out a year ago, but it’s not a new release either. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is a Christmas musical fantasy film written and directed by David E. Talbert.

The well-known cast includes Forest Whitaker, Phylicia Rashad, Keegan-Michael Key, Anika Noni Rose, Hugh Bonneville, Ricky Martin, Madalen Mills, and many others. It’s a film about a genius toymaker named Jeronicus Jangle whose life falls apart after a villainous toy convinces his apprentice to steal all his inventions. However, decades after this incident, Jeronicus finds new hope when he receives an unexpected visit from his kind and curious granddaughter.

If your kids are into Christmas movies where the characters sing and dance to holiday tunes, Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey is the movie for them! So go ahead and add this Christmas movie to their list.

A Boy Called Christmas

A Boy Called Christmas was released on Nov. 24, and many kids were happy to see this Christmas movie about a young boy named Nikolas who sets out on an adventure to find his father, who is on a quest to find the village of elves, Elfhelm. Along his journey, Nikolas is accompanied by a reindeer named Blitzen and a loyal pet mouse.

It’s a British Christmas fantasy film written by Ol Parker and Gil Kenan. Gil Kenan directed this incredible Netflix movie. It’s also another movie adapted from a book. It’s based on the 2015 book titled the same name by Matt Haig. The cast is composed of Henry Lawfull, Jim Broadbent, Zoe Colletti, Sally Hawkins, Michiel Huisman, Toby Jones, Maggie Smith, Rune Temte, Kristen Wiig, and many other supporting actors.

A Boy Called Christmas received positive reviews from critics, and according to Rotten Tomatoes has a 63% audience score. We recommend you check it out if you haven’t already.

Robin Robin

Robin Robin landed on Netflix on Nov. 24, and not many kids have watched this film. Most kids watched A Boy Called Christmas and paid this kids Christmas movie no mind. It’s a hidden Christmas movie gem, and we definitely recommend you give this film a chance! It’s only a 32-minute long movie, so kids will still have a lot of time in their day to watch the other kids Christmas movie we suggest on our list.

Robin Robin is about a young robin raised by a family of mice who wishes on a Christmas star that it was a real mouse. The robin just wants to fit in. In this Christmas musical short film, we see the young robin go on a journey of self-discovery.

David and the Elves

Next up on our list of the best kids Christmas movies on Netflix in 2021 is David and the Elves. Now, this Christmas movie is in Polish, so you’re going to have to either put on the subtitles or change the audio to English.

It came out on Dec. 6, and it’s about an overworked elf named Albert who leaves the North Pole to run off to the real world to figure out what Christmas is all about. While on his journey, he meets a young, lonely boy named David who just wants to have a cheerful Christmas, but his parents are always busy with work. So Albert and David go on a magical adventure to the Tatra Mountains to visit David’s grandparents and find out the true meaning of Christmas.

The Christmas Chronicles 1 and 2

Of course, The Christmas Chronicles and The Christmas Chronicles 2 were going to be on our list of the best kids Christmas movies in 2021. As of Dec. 6, both films are sitting on the top 10 list on the kids section on Netflix. The Christmas Chronicles holds the No. 6 spot and The Christmas Chronicles 2 sits at the No. 7 spot.

The Christmas Chronicles is a 2018 Christmas comedy film that follows two kids (Kate and Teddy). After accidentally crashing Santa’s sleigh, they must find a way to find the lost presents and correctly deliver them before Christmas morning with help from Santa himself. Kurt Russell stars as Santa Claus, Darby Camp as Kate Pierce, Judah Lewis as Teddy Pierce, Lamorne Morris as Officer Mikey Jameson, Kimberly Williams-Paisley as Claire Pierce, and Oliver Hudson as Doug Pierce.

The Christmas Chronicles 2 came to Netflix in November 2020 and is about a now-teenage Kate, who is unhappy with her mom’s new relationship, so she travels to the North pole to get away. However, when she arrives at the North Pole, things aren’t the same. A new threat by the name of Belsnickel is attempting to destroy the North Pole and end Christmas for good. Kate and Jack (Kate’s mom’s new boyfriend’s son) must find a way to put an end to Belsnickel with the help of Santa Claus. Hopefully, we get to see The Christmas Chronicles 3!

Elliot the Littlest Reindeer

This kids Christmas animated movie came out in 2018, but it’s a timeless Christmas movie that kids can always watch to get ready for Christmas during the winter season. It was written and directed by Jennifer Wescott. The voice cast includes some familiar names such as Josh Hutcherson, Samantha Bee, Martin Short, Morena Baccarin, Jeff Dunham, John Cleese, and many others.

Elliot the Littlest Reindeer is about a miniature horse named Elliot who is determined to take Blitzen’s place in Santa’s reindeer team after he retires. So he travels to the North Pole to compete for a spot alongside the famous reindeer team. However, Elliot faces serious competition in the tryouts. Will Elliot make the cut?

Klaus

Last but surely not least on our list of the best kids Christmas movies on Netflix in 2021 is Klaus. This Netflix movie is considered a kids and family movie. It’s a 2019 Christmas film that follows the spoiled Jesper who is sent to the fictional island of Smeerensburg by his father in hopes of reforming him. While there, Jesper forms an unlikely bond with a mysterious toymaker named Klaus. Their friendship helps end an age-old feud and brings joy to a cold and dark town.

The talented voice cast comprises Jason Schwartzman, J. K. Simmons, Rashida Jones, Neda Margrethe Labba, Joan Cusack, Will Sasso, Norm Macdonald and many others.

Klaus was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards. This is the first animated film from Netflix to be nominated for an Academy Award.
