Welcome, one and all! December is almost here, which means it’s time to watch all of your favorite holiday movies. Perhaps you’re a fan of timeless classics like It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas, or maybe you love old television specials like How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Whatever you’re preference, I would recommend adding Klaus to your holiday watch list.

Klaus is an animated film that premiered on Netflix on November 8, 2019. A unique take on the origin of Santa Claus, the movie starts by introducing viewers to Jesper, the idle and irresponsible son of the Royal Postmaster General. Jesper has been training to be a postman but has purposely failed every task set before him. In order to challenge Jesper’s arrogance, his father sends him to the distant town of Smeerensburg. Jesper must post 6,000 letters in a year or he will be cut off from the family fortune.

Once Jesper arrives in the dreary Smeerensburg, he discovers that sending 6,000 letters is going to be almost impossible. The town is inhabited by the Ellingboe and Krum families, who have a perpetual feud. However, a chance meeting with Klaus, an isolated woodsman with a secret talent for toymaking, changes everything. Jesper realizes that he can succeed by encouraging children to send letters to Klaus in exchange for toys.

The film stars Jason Schwartzman, J.K. Simmons, Rashida Jones, Will Sasso, Norm MacDonald, Sergio Pablos, and Joan Cusack.

Is Klaus available on Netflix?

Thankfully, Klaus is available on Netflix.

Even though it only premiered about a year ago, Klaus is definitely one of my favorite holiday movies. It’s incredibly heart-warming and tells a beautiful, creative story about the power of friendship, love, and perseverance. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out!
